ATV/Jeep Trail 7839 is off the Old Kingman Highway northeast of Bullhead City. An easy trail that winds along the eastern side of a mountain ridge and includes an overlook of the Lake Mohave Colorado River valley.

Many abandoned mines and mining trails to explore.

New Mexico has an abundance of wide open country for off-roading adventures. If you have the right rig, those spaces are yours to explore, whether you’re looking for an off-roading day trip to challenge your vehicle with obstacles on designated trails or you’re ready for a full overlanding adventure by hitting the back roads for self-supported overnight travel. There’s so much of New Mexico that goes unseen.

Travelling over difficult terrain requires vehicles capable of off-road driving such as ATVs. These vehicles have features designed specifically for use in off-road conditions such as extended ground clearance, off-road tires and a strengthened drive-train. Some manufacturers offer vehicles specifically designed for off-road use.

Off-roading is a term used to describe driving on unpaved ground. This surface can be almost anything other than typical smooth pavement, including fields, riverbeds, muddy bogs, sand dunes, beaches, mountainsides, gravel, boulders and even roads that have fallen into disrepair. If it’s not paved (or paved well), it’s fair game for off-roaders.

Some off-roaders enjoy the natural scenery, while others love the technical challenge that driving on unpaved ground presents. Whatever type of off-roading you’re into, it can be a great pastime as long as you know what you’re doing.
