With its warm, blue waters and red sandstone landscape, one of Utah’s newer state parks is also one of its most popular. Boat, fish, and dive at Sand Hollow Reservoir, explore and ride the dunes of Sand Mountain on an off-highway vehicle, then RV or tent camp in a campground or the beach.
Sand Hollow is a very popular, very scenic state park near St George in SW Utah. It offers a warm-water reservoir, sandy beaches and red rock; an access tunnel to Sand Mountain provides ATV trails through the sand dunes.
Located near Hurricane, approximately 297 miles south of Salt Lake City. It is a 45 minute drive from the park to Zion National Park and 20 minutes to St George. From I-15, take the Hurricane exit (Exit 16). Travel east on Hwy 9 for about four miles to Sand Hollow Road and then turn right. Travel south for 4 1/2 miles and turn left at the park entrance.
St. George is a city in southwestern Utah. Nearby Snow Canyon and Sand Hoillow State Parks offers fishing, boating, trails, dunes and red sandstone cliffs. Sand Hollow State Park features a large reservoir. Stately 19th-century buildings such as the Pioneer Courthouse and Brigham Young Winter Home dot downtown. The St. George Art Museum houses historical photos and work by regional artists. Zion National Park, with canyons and streams, lies northeast.
